Unplanned staying-at-home mom

I’ve been made redundant a month ago. It couldn’t have come at a better time. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed because I was juggling a full time job, a household plus the three kids. As soon a I calmed down after the initial shock of being ‘letting go’ I could actually start thinking of all the wonderful things I could now actually do. The great big spring cleaning, getting my butt to the gym, cooking and baking, blogging and spending some quality time with the family instead of collapsing on my bed at 9 pm in exhaustion.

Ok, I am bit stressed about how we will do financially in the future, but I’m sure that God wanted me to be with my family now. Some things have happened and to be honest, had this all happened while I still had to go to work, I can’t see how we could have coped.

So, like I said, it’s been a month now and there has ALWAYS been someone at home with me, in sick mode. So instead of doing the stuff I was planning on doing, I had to be tending to the sick. Seriously, everyone has been sick , my husband, the kids even the cat will be having an operation tomorrow. I know it must come across as if I’m not enjoying it…but to be honest, I kind of am. All those years that I’ve had to take time off or felt guilty about not being able to nurse my family back to health, or just not being able to be there whenever they needed me. I’m so grateful for being at home right now, even though I haven’t had a moment to myself yet. But, God, I would really appreciate just one day… soon…please? Ha!

God has showed me that sometimes the best things in life are completely unplanned.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

Not so ‘Wordless Wednesday’ : Wireless Communication

Wireless Connection

How long has it been since you sent Him a text, a BBM or a Whatsapp if you prefer, just to thank Him or to give Him praise? Most of our prayers are to ASK Him for something, but He deserves our praise and our thanks. Send Him a text today…right now. Just think of all the things you are thankful for and praise Him for it! I promise, you will have a whole list of things you will like to talk to Him about. Concentrate on thanking Him today. We usually end up asking Him for help and things, at least most days we do, but today, let’s just give Him PRAISE!

Times vs Grown Ups simelarities?

When I first saw the pic on the new cover of Times magazine I though to myself three things :

  1. Ouch!
  2. She is so pretty ! Wow!
  3. Tihee! Hey, that scene from the movie of Grown Ups.

Ouch because I breastfed both of my kids and I even nursed one of them until he was 20-21 months old and believe you me, I wish I would have stopped once he started teething but he however though differently.

Yes, I think this woman is pretty, I don’t know why that came up in my mind. Probably because I know what breastesess can look like after nursing for some time. They don’t look like that. At least, I don’t think they would. Do they? Oh boy, nevermind mind.

And now Grown Ups. Common, many of you must have though of this movie right away, Right? How could you not. I think that it was one of the most funny moments in the movie. Ok, there must be others, but I can’t stop thinking of this one perticular scene:

Take your stupid pic but leave me aloneeeeeee!!!

Since the advent of cell phone cameras, people have been craftily taking their own photos in bathroom mirrors in an effort to look either cool or alluring, usually using the trout pout…  YUCK! Often times this backfires terribly as you can see by just typing “mirror picture fails” into Google search.

I never really have understood why people take pics of themselves while standing in front of a mirror. Everyone seems to be doing it, teens, celebrities, cats….but this pic is actually cute.

A boy wanting a pic with his cat…..the cat doesn’t seem happy about it though.
